It is very accessible and has become very developed in recent years. Its classic Main Street is part of a great historic district and has an iconic small-town charm. Check Out Some Civil War History

The Battle of Franklin was an important battle in the American Civil War that occurred in late 1864. Today, you can learn about it at the Carnton Plantation, an antebellum home that is located just a mile from where the battle took place. It was actually used as a makeshift hospital during the battle, treating over 300 men. The house is on the National Registry of Historic Places.

Another place that will pique the interest of a Civil War enthusiast is the Winstead Hill Civil War Site. This is an area where the military was staged during the Civil War. There are plaques around the hiking trail with information. The park is free to enter and has some great, simple trails to check out by foot or on a bicycle.

Methodist Church

If you like to visit old churches, the Methodist church in Franklin should be an attraction for you. The church was originally constructed in 1871. Like many other buildings in the area, the original church used as a building in the Civil War. This one was a Union Hospital. There are a few other historic churches in downtown Franklin as well.
