Avoiding Crime

Lexington is a huge city and has a diverse population. Unfortunately, some parts of the city are dangerous. There are parts of the city where the chance of crime is almost twice as high than in other parts. The best thing to do is to check with your hotel staff and ask if there are any places on your itinerary that you should avoid. Also, ask if there are times of day or night when your risks will be higher. If you’re going to be in a risky part of town, be sure to lock your doors and keep your valuables out of sight. Areas that are typically considered risky include parts of downtown and parts of Georgetown Road. Race Street and Arbor Grove Place area also known as a problem area that you might want to avoid.

Traffic Troubles

If you choose to walk, be extra careful at crosswalks and intersections. Make sure you look twice before you step out into the street. Traffic can get congested at time, so watch yourself if you’re walking or cycling. Lexington has particularly bad traffic on New Circle Road, Nicholasville Road, and Man O’ War Blvd. Things get especially bad during rush hour. So, whether you’re walking or driving, be especially careful once people are getting off of work.
