Copenhagen Warnings and Dangers
The city of Copenhagen is the capital and most heavily populated city in Denmark. Though it is fairly safe, it’s always best to watch out for local warnings and dangers.
Watch Out for Pickpockets
One thing to watch out for when in Copenhagen are the pickpockets. It’s always best to keep a constant eye on your belongings, particularly when you’re in crowds. However, there are also specific places where you’ll want to be extra careful. The Copenhagen Central Station is one place where you will want to be especially watchful, since it draws quite a heavy crowd and is a known place where thieves strike. In other parts of the city, just make sure not to set your belongings down without securing them.
Be Careful of Biking
There are a number of things to watch out for when biking around Copenhagen. You’ll want to watch out for drivers suddenly opening their doors, which can quickly toss you from your bike if you’re not careful. Also, there are separate traffic lights for cyclists and car drivers. Be wary of which light to look out for.
Despite being a great cooperative community, government repression of Christiania has created an aggressive element there that includes drug dealers. It’s not unheard of for travelers in the area to be threatened by some of the locals. The locals also seem to dislike intrusive behavior, and don’t respond well to people taking photos in the area. Christiana is worth a visit, but be cautious while there.
