Skiathos Island Shopping
Skiathos is a small Greek island that sits comfortably in the northwest Aegean Sea. As a popular destination for visitors to the region, it possesses many stores at which tourists can do their shopping.
Skiathos Town Shops
Skiathos town has no shortage of shops. Many of them offer standard merchandise that you can find almost anywhere, while others carry very unique items. The highlight for Greek crafts and folk art is at the store, Archipelago. Adjacent to the Papadiamandis House, it offers a world-class assemblage of exquisite objects. This merchandise reflects local art and folklore, both old and new, and includes textiles, jewelry, and sculptures. Galerie Varsakis is located on Trion Ierarchon Square, above the fishing port, and carries a museum-quality collection of folk antiques, embroidered bags and linens, rugs from around the world, and other collectibles. Less stylish, but full of curiosities, is Gallery Seraina, which sits at the first junction of Papadiamandis. It has a fine selection of ceramic plates, jewelry, textiles, and unusual glass lampshades.
However, if you’re just looking for clothes or some souvenirs, then have no fear. Local tourist shops are open from nine in the morning until 10 in the evening. Seven days out of the week, they offer a wide range of products. These include everything from delicious traditional candies to the trendiest designer clothes that can think of. Visitors will also find plenty of clothes suited to the local weather, including beach wear, sunglasses, and shoes.
