Abu Dhabi Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Abu Dhabi Transportation

As the capital of the United Arab Emirates and one of the most populous cities in the region, the city of Abu Dhabi is a well-traveled destination for many. As a result, it possesses a robust transportation network.

The Local Airlines

The United Arab Emirates possesses two major international airports along the same road. There are two major carriers that service the area, including Etihad for flights out of Abu Dhabi and Emirates Airlines for flights to Dubai. Etihad is based at the Abu Dhabi Airport Terminal 3 and operates more than 1,000 flights per week. Flights typically carryover 120 passengers and cargo to destinations throughout the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

Bus Service

Public bus is yet another way to travel to Abu Dhabi. For a relatively low cost, you can buy a ticket to the city and back. These buses have air conditioning and take close to two hours to make the journey. Once in Abu Dhabi, bus service is available to other nearby towns. Bus routes can be slightly confusing to understand, but the price is quite affordable. Always confirm the destination with your driver before boarding.

Taxi

Once you arrive at the Abu Dhabi airport, you can take a metered taxi from the ground floor. These provide for a budget friendly trip to the center of the city.
