Tips on Santa Barbara Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Santa Barbara Warnings and Dangers

Santa Barbara is an easy, breezy coastal city on the southern coast of California. Generally, Santa Barbara is a safe and beautiful city, home to college students and long-standing residents alike. However, like with any city, there are also things to be aware of when visiting this beach city and ways to keep you out of harm’s way so you can relax and enjoy your time in Santa Barbara.

Driving

Driving can be a hazard in and of itself depending on who you ask. Driving in Santa Barbara can be particularly tricky, especially if you are heading up narrow and steep mountainsides, looking for a trail or a hike. One in particular, “Painted Cave Road,” has been noted by travelers as hazardous and one to be very careful on if not avoid entirely. The road does not have a guard rail and the road itself is often bumpy and unpaved. This road is also home to many cyclists, so if you decide to brave this drive, be alert of other vehicles and people doing the same.

Homeless Population

Again, not uncommon in a warm, beach city, Santa Barbara hosts a fairly large homeless population, that is noticed by many of those who visit this coastal city. Visitors have noted that it is best to be aware and alert, but that it should not be a deterrent to visiting this city. It is not uncommon to run into people asking for spare change or food outside of grocery markets, shopping malls, or along the beach.

Safety is of course something we should always be aware of, but it is particularly important when visiting a city in which we are unfamiliar. Getting to know the dangers and safety tips of any place you visit is a good move and should be rewarded with a beach side stroll on your Santa Barbara visit.
