Saudi Arabia Shopping – Shops, Stores, Best Buys & Inside Tips

Saudi Arabia Shopping

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a shopping Mecca for those lucky enough to visit. If you have a visa to travel to The Kingdom, here are some tips to get the most out of Saudi Arabia shopping.

Saudi Arabia Shopping Malls

One of the biggest and most modern of Saudi Shopping Malls is the Mall of Arabia which features name brands such as Banana Republic, Mango, Zara, and more. You can buy almost anything at these malls that can be found in Western countries, but most items are typically less expensive here. There are also malls specifically constructed for families, where no single men allowed, such as the Jeddah mall for families.

Saudi Arabia Souks

The traditional open air markets known as Souks give visitors a taste of ancient Arabia, especially in the old markets of Jeddah along the Red Sea. Here you can haggle with Bedouins at Al-Basha Market and buy gold and precious jewels at the Al-Sasha Market. The Souk Al Nada is one of the oldest shopping streets in Jeddah where you can buy gold, textiles, clothing, jewelry, and more from friendly, smiling merchants.

Saudi Arabia Modern Markets

As Saudi Arabia continues to develop, modern marketplaces are popping up all over the country. Entire commercial centers are devoted to shopping. For example, downtown Ballard is the place to shop for electronics. Saudi women love the Al Tahlia Center where they can shop for designer bags, shoes, watches and clothing. Brand names such as Coach, Tiffany & Co., and Swarovski can be found at the Al Thalia Center. Saudi commercial centers also have large food courts for a shopping lunch break.
