Tips on Luton Warnings and Dangers – Stay Safe!

Luton Warnings and Dangers

Luton is a large borough of Bedfordshire, England, located about 40 miles north of the center of London. There is some reported crime, like in any large town after hours, but Luton is mostly a safe place. It is best to exercise caution in any new area though. Like with town, it has other dangers which we will discuss here.

Remember That Luton is Not London

“Not only is Luton not in London, the capital city is not even visible on the far horizon!”

Many first time travelers to London will unintentionally book their flights to Luton instead of London accidentally. Many budget airlines will advertise the ticket as London Luton perhaps in an attempt to confuse. Either way, it isn’t the end of the world when this happens. One just has to figure out transportation into the city. You can take either the train or the bus into London, both reliable forms of transportation here. Expect to pay some money and spend about an hour in travel time. The train is reportedly faster, but costs more. The Easybus comes highly recommended, takes a long time, and is much cheaper.

Get to Luton Airport Early!

Airport security is reportedly very slow. You don’t want to miss your flight home and pay hefty rescheduling fees. Expect heavy traffic. Luton is a very small airport that deals with a high level of travelers coming into and leaving England. In order to speed things up, they give travelers the option of bypassing a considerable portion of the security process by purchasing a “Priority Pass”. Expect to pay around 6 US dollars. If you opt out of purchasing the special treatment, expect to wait around in hour, best case scenario.

Another fee to be aware of is if you take a taxi to the Luton Airport, there is a charge to be dropped off close to the door. If you do not want to pay this fee, you will be unloaded at the free shuttle bus with your luggage to carry.
