Puri is home to over a dozen major annual Hindi religious festivals. The area’s transportation options are geared towards bringing in large numbers of people quickly and efficiently for a short period of time.

By Air

Getting to Puri by air is easy because the city is centrally located along many routes. The nearest airport in the community is Bhubaneshwar. It’s about 62 km from the city center. You can can get here via multiple flights from many major cities in India including Calcutta, Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

By Rail

Many kinds of direct express trains link Puri with  other Indian cities including DehliVaranasi, Agra, Calcutta, and Guhwahati. There’s also South Eastern Railway network, which connects all of the southern Indian states to Puri.

By Bus

Puri is well connected with bus routes to other parts of the country. Buses are inexpensive, but tend to be crowded. There are frequent public buses that go reasonably fast and will bring you across much of the city.

Journeying Around the City

Inner Puri has many modes of transport available, including rickshaws. These are local transport methods that offer transportation to all corners of the city quickly and cheaply.  Once you have spent some time here, it’s easy to find your way way. After that you could rent a motorcycle or a scooter to get around on your own. Cars are also popular, but parking is hard to come by.
