The natural environment is abundant in and around Hot Springs. The Ouachita National Forest is the oldest National Forest in the southern United States, and it spans over 1.8 million acres. Stretching from Central Arkansas into Oklahoma, the forest is home to a wide variety of wildlife including: deer, bear, quail, fox, armadillos, coyotes, and roadrunners. It’s great for hiking, as well as biking, fishing, or just a drive to enjoy the scenery. Another great way to experience Ouachita National Forest is on horseback. From Gray Lake you can rent horses and truly appreciate the scenery.

Bathhouse Row and National Park Bathing

Architecture lovers will be happy to see the wonderful historic buildings of Bathhouse Row, which features eight bathhouses: Buckstaff, Fordyce, Hale, Lamar, Maurice, Ozark, Quapaw, and Superior.

To bathe at the National Park, no appointment needed. Your ticket includes a locker for your valuables, a bath towel and access to a choice of large lounging tubs or smaller sitting tubs. Water temperatures range from 100-108 degrees depending on your preferences, and massages can be added on to your experience. All in all, a fun time, and a relaxing way to spend less than a hundred dollars to treat yourself.
