Because of the relationship between the town and the university, the town has a great reputation for live music. North Texas has one of the premier jazz schools in the country. Courthouse Museum

The courthouse in Denton has a free museum inside open to all. Inside the museum are collections of different items important to Denton over the years like guns, dolls, furniture, and different curiosities important to the Southwest. There are many other collections available in the museum as well, which are perfect for kids to see. The museum is open every day from 10:00 to 4:30 and 11:00 to 3:00 on Sundays.

The Sherman Building

This building is of historical interest to the city of Denton because it is the site where the Great Fire of 1860 broke out. It is also the last building in the area to be purchased and made a part of the town square. The building burnt down during the fire and was later rebuilt as the first brick building in the town.

Historic Homes

If you find historical homes interesting, be sure to take a walk through the Oak-Hickory Historic District. It is located not too far from the town square and has some interesting Victorian homes in the neighborhood.
