Warnings and Dangers in Orlando Crime-Related

Known as the home to Mickey Mouse and a host of other theme park attractions, Orlando is a popular vacation spot for families and couples alike. Similar to any major city, Orlando also has its share of neighborhoods to avoid and issues to look out for.

Theft

Pickpockets aren’t uncommon in Orlando. Keep your handbag close or avoid carrying one at all. Thieves have been known to cut straps on handbags and steal passports, identification, cash, and credit cards. To be safe, only carry the credit cards you’ll need and store the rest in a hotel safe. If you rent a house while in Orlando, be sure to keep the front door locked to prevent unauthorized entry.

Crime West of Downtown

The neighborhood around Orlando City Hall has higher crime rates than the rest of the city. Make sure you lock your car doors and leave valuables at your hotel or rental. Don’t walk the streets alone, especially at night. Other areas to avoid include Parramore Street, Orange Blossom Trail, and Pine Hills. Disney’s parks and hotels are usually safe, but you should remain on guard and aware of the people around you everywhere you go.

Drugs

The area between State Road 436 and State Road 50 is known by locals for drug-related crimes. The main road is safe to travel on, but it’s best to avoid the area if you’re on foot.
