Astana Nightlife – Clubs, Bars & Nightlife Tips

Astana Nightlife

Although there are several nightclubs that mark the streets of Astana, Kazakhstan, only a handful are liked by both locals and travelers. And though most of these clubs play similar music, some offer different genres for those who to want to branch out a little.

The Chocolate Room

Located at the bottom floor of Astana’s  Radisson Hotel, the Chocolate Room, or simply Chocolate, is a great place to stop and dance for the night. Like most clubs in Astana’s nightlife scene, this club doesn’t start filling until after midnight and stays open until around 4:00 a.m.

To get into this club, you need to dress well, using all your European fashion sense. In other words, try to wear more than just jeans and a T-shirt. It’s also a relief to find out that most foreigners aren’t held to the same fashion standards and are often admitted without looking perfect. The music can get repetitive throughout the evening. Wednesday and Thursday evenings, Chocolate offers free admission to jazz sessions.

Try Pub 69

If you are tired of repetitive techno music, try Pub 69’s rock music instead. It is situated near the Poocha department store and often has live music, which is different from most nightclubs. Pub 69 charges no fee for entrance and is well lit, a refreshing prospect for those tired of the typical dimly lit and expensive clubs.

Other Nightlife Options

If Chocolate and Pub 69 don’t appeal, there are a few other clubs to choose from in Astana for an enjoyable evening. There’s the Salvador Dali, Barkhat, Azhur, and Fashion. Most of these charge similar rates for tables and require a certain level of dress in order to be admitted. You can also stay in with friends and have fun at house parties without venturing into nightclubs in Astana.
