Philippines: Boracay Beach

Boracay Island, Philippines

A bit off the beaten path, Boracay Island provides undeveloped scenery in a lush natural setting. Our readers like it because it offers a serene escape from the everyday life, with plenty of entertainment options.

Reader Sheila said, "My favorite Beach is Borocay in the Philippines. The sand is soft and white and the water is clear, clean, and brilliant turquoise and azure. The children and townspeople nearby are sweet. It isn't overdeveloped yet. You can sit at a bar, chat with friends, go dancing, have a quiet intimate dinner at the place of your choice along the main strip of beach, or you can rent a motorbike or tuk-tuk and discover more secluded areas."

Reader Haydne added, "Everything about it was awesome. Getting there was an experience; plane, bus, boat, moped. Crystal clear, blue water on your doorstep. Pure silky white sand. The hotels made from bamboo. The Asian food. The cliff top bar. The tropical jungle, and even the Flintstones style bowling alley, with concrete balls, bamboo floors, and some poor fella rolling the ball back to you!"
