Yet Another Winter Storm Causes More Flight Cancellations and Delays

Another day, another major winter storm. This latest one is called Nika, and it's upending a heap of itineraries in the Northeast and Midwest this week.

On the heels of a horrible Janauary for air travelers, during which flight cancellations numbered in the tens of thousands, long-track winter storm Niko is piling snow on states in the Midwest. The storm is heading toward New England and the Mid-Atlantic region.

According to the flight-tracking website FlightAware, more than 1,000 flights scheduled to depart today and tomorrow have been canceled, and more than 3,000 flights have been delayed. The airports experiencing the most delays and cancellations include New York-area hubs, Chicago O'Hare, Kansas City International, Philadelphia International, and Washington Dulles.

Most carriers are offering change-fee waivers for travel Tuesday and Wednesday; this means you can reschedule your flight at no cost, in most cases. You can get more information about your airline's fee waivers here:
