Travelocity expands FareWatcher fare-tracking tool

FareWatcher, Travelocity's popular email-based fare-tracking program, is now available in desktop form. Windows Vista users can download the program, which will send alerts when fares drop on three selected routes. Besides fare updates, the so-called "Vista Gadget" also offers daily flight promotions and booking capabilities.

If you use Vista, and plan to track fares for an upcoming trip, Travelocity's program is worth downloading, at least at first (you can always uninstall the program if it doesn't work for you). While I like the idea of price notifications, the promised "daily updates highlighting featured flight promotions" could be more annoying than helpful.

This new desktop tool follows in the footsteps of Southwest's Ding and Expedia's Fare Alert.
