I have a question about rush fee with Delta Sky Miles. I made a reservation on 1/6 and had till 1/8 to tkt. Apparently, 1/8 was 20 days from my 1/28 departure (and in fact, 24 days from my return flight). Little did I know that I was in the twilight zone of getting into day 21 prior to trip... They charged me $75 and I feel that this was rather misleading- I had no idea there is such fee structure and since the reservation was made exactly before the fee kicked in I would have expected at least a courtesy note saying that if I ticket on 1/8 there would be a $75 fee. (total $150 as these were 2 tkts)
Do you think I have a case to try and reverse this charge?
Does the fact that I had a booking on hold help in any way? Thx in advance.

Good job, but choice of light pink/skin color background colors made it almost impossible to read column-headers

nnightmar - The "Rush Fee" column for Delta reads $75-$150. Rush fees typically apply to award tickets booked less than 21 days before travel. Thanks for using SmarterTravel, and be sure to check back before your next flight!

You might want to update yhe fee chart. Recently booked a trip for my wife online thru Delta. There is a sliding scale for award travel depending on WHEN you book it. In our case within 7 days of departure carried a hefty fee of $100 + $10 (nearly 1/3 of the normal fare!) and it cost an additional 10,000 miles (v. 25,000). Add ot this the standard baggage fees and the idea of an "award" ticket certainly doesn't seem like such a bargain anymore.
