American, United, and other airlines accused of price gouging

On the heels of last week's disclosure that British Airways is the target of an investigation into price fixing via phony fuel surcharges, a new lawsuit filed Friday accuses three other major carriers of price fixing on transatlantic routes.

In a suit filed in New York federal court, Virgin Atlantic, American, United, and the aforementioned British Airways are accused of colluding to wrongfully inflate prices in the name of new fuel surcharges. Virgin Atlantic, American, and United had previously acknowledged they were cooperating with the British Airways investigation.
