News from Carnival, Norwegian, and Star Clippers

I may have been on vacation, but the cruise lines have been working hard to bring you new programs, ships, and amenities. Here’s the latest news from Carnival, Norwegian, and Star Clippers.

[% 11986 | | Carnival %] will soon unveil its new adults-only deck area, called Serenity. The Carnival Inspiration will be the first ship to feature Serenity after its dry dock in early October. Located on a secluded aft deck, this sanctuary for adults will feature two whirlpools, plush chaise lounges and chairs, a shady relaxation section, and bar service.

[% 12025 | | Norwegian %] announced a new golf program for its Bermuda cruises. Guests who participate in the Golf Bermuda program have access to advance tee time bookings, Callaway rental clubs, transportation to and from the courses, and tournament-planning assistance. Packages range from $85 to $269 per person. In addition, guests on the Norwegian Crown can purchase tickets to the PGA Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda on October 16 and 17 through Norwegian’s shore excursion department. Tickets cost $150 per person.

Finally, Star Clippers revealed plans to build the largest sailing vessel ever constructed. The five-masted ship will debut in 2010 and carry 296 passengers (based on double occupancy) and 140 crew members. The new ship will be 48 percent larger than the line’s Royal Clipper, which currently holds the title of largest sailing ship in the world.
