3 Travelers From South Africa Are Under Quarantine In Negros Occidental

Three travelers who arrived from South Africa last week are currently under quarantine in Negros Occidental. The Philippine government said that two of the three foreigners, consultants for a power firm in their home country and Travel Advisories were not aware they had restrictions on travel when entering Philippines as it was only announced days before by officials here at Ninoy Aquino International Airport; one traveler came into this country via Manila airport while another flew initially to Cebu before traveling overland through Davao City en route up North.
Filipinos have been prohibited from temporarily banned flights after the Omicron variant was detected in southern Africa. The Ministry of Health announced its decision to ground all international and local airline services on November 26 at 8pm Manila time with a temporary measure that will last until December 9th while they investigate this new development which has prompted countries like Botswana, South-African Republic (Reunion), Sao Tome e Principe plus others are affected as well.
The Department of Health (DOH) officials in Negros Occidental, meanwhile, tasked the local government to trace these foreigners. They were isolated and as part or their company's policy on arrival from abroad.
