    This fall,

    Windstar

will begin a major renovation of its three motor sailing yachts under its "Degrees of Difference" program. The work begins when the

    Wind Surf

enters a five-week dry- and wet-dock period in November. The

    Wind Spirit

gets its makeover in spring 2007, followed by the

    Wind Star

    in fall 2007.

While previous enhancements mainly concerned aesthetics, the newest round of upgrades will also focus on structural and mechanical operations and improvements to guest areas. For the

    Wind Surf

, this means a new "Yacht Club" area—an open gathering space featuring an espresso bar and cafe, a lounge area with couches and a flat-screen TV, a computer center, and access to the library. In the staterooms, new bathroom designs and amenities will update the old look. Also, two new suites on the Bridge deck will offer 475 square feet of living space, as well as help with packing, an invitation to join the captain at dinner, laundry services, and evening appetizers and afternoon tea. The spa and alternative restaurant will also see improvements.

To complete the first set of renovations, Windstar canceled the

    Wind Surf's

November 19 and December 2 sailings. The ship will make its grand re-entrance with its December 16 cruise in the Caribbean.
