Another day, another flight delay. Thousands of travelers were stranded yesterday morning after a problem with United Airlines’ computer system caused flight delays in the U.S. and abroad. This is the third significant United computer outage since the summer.
We’re not sure how many flights were delayed, exactly. But according to the Associated Press, some passengers reported being stranded for as long as two hours.
Luckily, this system outage was a quick one. Not long after the airline’s computer system went down, United Tweeted an announcement that everything was back to normal: “Our system is up. We’re resuming operations for affected flights.”
The airline has had quite a few computer problems after it merged with Continental and launched a new reservations system last spring. Flight delays happened immediately after the new system went live, and there have been several computer outages since.
