Warnings and Dangers in Bangkok Patpong – Bars
Patpong is a famous entertainment district in Bangkok, Thailand. When you go to check out the local bars, be aware that there are a few warnings or dangers in the area.
The Exit Scam
When you walk through the Patpong district, you may be approached by a few club promoters. Some may refer to these promoters as “fixer”. There are quite a few fixers that will stand outside with a sign that promises low prices for drinks. Some fixers will just walk up to you and tell you how little their drinks cost. They may even tell you that there is no entrance fee. The clubs on the first floor have specific prices, but if you are asked to go upstairs and have a few drinks, you’ll notice that the prices are not specified. You may think you’ll only have to pay for your drinks, but when the bill comes, it may be outrageous. It may have many items added including an entrance fee. If you decide not to pay the exorbitant bill, the employees or bouncers will try to prevent you from leaving. You can try to explain that the fixer told you it would only cost a few 100 baht’s, but you won’t be able to leave the club before paying for all of the fees.
Mischievous Massage Parlors
A Thai massage doesn’t always mean that you’ll get more than just a massage. There are plenty of reputable parlors in Patpong, but there are a few that offer sensual massages. Many of the salons are inexpensive and you should know what services you are going to receive before going into any massage parlor.
