JetBlue eyes Bermuda flights

JetBlue, which recently announced it will add 10 new cities to its domestic route map in 2006, continues to make inroads on international routes as well. The airline today announced it is seeking permission to begin nonstop flights between New York’s JFK airport and Bermuda, pending approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the government of Bermuda. JetBlue has already expanded its international route map to include the Dominican Republic and Bahamas.

If approved by the government agencies (and that appears to be a formality at this point), JetBlue says it will begin flying two daily nonstop flights between New York and Bermuda in May. It’s reasonable to expect the airline might then expand the service to include departures from its other focus cities.

File this one under good news for Bermuda-bound travelers.
