About

The wide-open horizons on the Great Plains may have enticed Cyrus Holliday to plant roots and found the city of Topeka, but today's visitors will find much more than open spaces to charm them. Tourists can walk in the footsteps of the pioneers at Old Prairie Town on the Oregon Trail. Gage Park, created in 1899, offers plenty of family fun, including the Topeka Zoo and a mini-train that winds through the park. Fans of art and architecture will want to see the Kansas State Capitol and its John Steuart Curry murals, as well as the 10 Tiffany windows installed in First Presbyterian Church in 1911. Located on I-70 and I-35, Topeka is less than 60 miles from Kansas City International Airport.
