The Canadian side of Niagara Falls offers majestic views of the famous waterworks, and provides guests with plenty of entertainment both near the Falls and in the city. The well-known Maid of the Mist tours take visitors to the base of the American Falls and into the basin of the Canadian Falls, while the Journey Behind the Falls provides a view of Horseshoe Falls from 150 feet below the drop-off. The Butterfly Conservatory, which features more than 2,000 butterflies, the Laura Secord Homestead honoring the Canadian heroine, and Old Fort Erie provide entertainment away from the thundering waters. Niagara Falls, Ontario, is located about 20 minutes away from Buffalo Niagara International Airport, and about an hour away from Toronto Pearson International Airport. The new terminal at the Niagara Falls International Airport also offers limited service.

The most popular time to visit is during summer, when the weather is warm and schools are on break. Although the weather can be chilly and fewer people visit, winter is a popular time to visit for savings and events. Niagara Falls experiences four seasons. Summer can be hot and humid, with temperatures reaching into the low 80s. Winter can be cold and icy, with temperatures dipping below freezing. Spring and fall are fairly mild, with temperatures averaging between the 40s and the low-70s.

Crowd Information

Niagara Falls gets busy in July and August, especially during the U.S.'s Independence Day celebrations from July 1 through the 5. Major events attract crowds throughout the year, including the Niagara Icewine Festival in January, the harvest season from September through October, and the Winter Festival of Lights from November through January.

Closure Information

Most hotels, shops, and attractions remain open throughout the year. However, some attractions on Clifton Hill may close for winter.
