New Jersey is year-round destination with a temperate climate and four seasons. Summer is often the most popular time to visit, especially along the Jersey shore. While winter can be too cold for many, spring and fall offer relatively mild weather, with the added benefit of festivals and smaller crowds.

Weather Information

The best time to visit New Jersey is during the early summer months; July and August are often hot and humid, with highs of 86 degrees. Winter is too cold for most tourists, who prefer the moderate climates of autumn and spring. Rain falls throughout the year.

Crowd Information

Weekends experience very high traffic periods, especially along the Jersey shore during the summer. Spring and fall can be pleasant at the shore, with fewer crowds and a host of festivals and events. Mountain Creek Resort is a premier skiing and snowboarding destination in winter, and draws crowds in summer with a water park and many outdoor recreational activities.

Some coastal towns are year-round destinations, but others close for the winter. Cape May is open year-round.
