high season: April to early-September
low season: November to March
shoulder season: mid-September to October
Weather InformationWeather-wise, the best times to visit are during the months of May, June, and September, when the weather is more moderate than it is during the rest of the year. September experiences nearly ten hours of daily sunshine. The summer months can reach a high of 90 degrees, while the winter months can drop into the low 30s. Snow is common in Northern Ohio, near Lake Erie, from December to March.
Crowd InformationSummer, when kids are on school break, is popular with vacationing families. However, because most people drive through the state, no one particular area gets crowded. In the fall, wooded areas such as Hocking Hills can fill up with vacationers.
Closure InformationMany of the amusement parks close for the season around Labor Day and reopen on Memorial Day.
When to SaveFall and winter, when many hotels and resorts offer discounts, are typically the most cost-effective times of the year to visit. Midweek travel is often the cheapest.
When to BookLow prices can be found year-round, but it is wise to search for special deals or discounts well in advance of travel dates.
