Boise Travel Guide

Why Visit Boise

Boise travel combines the cosmopolitan and the outdoorsy. The city boasts fine cultural institutions like the Boise Art Museum; annual festivals such as the Treefort Music Fest; and a walkable downtown crammed with eateries and shops (plus a cool Basque quarter). But just outside town are rivers to raft, slopes to ski, and trails to hike.

When to Visit Boise

Boise travel is tempting all year-round, with outdoor adventures ranging from winter skiing and snowboarding to summer backpacking and river-running. The city itself doesn’t have a dull stretch, not with its well-spaced festivals (from the New Year’s Eve Potato Drop to the Western Idaho Fair) and ongoing performing arts calendar.

Boise Weather

Idaho’s capital has a four-season climate that’s rarely extreme. Summers are hot but bearable, given the low humidity, and winters are on the tamer side, with chilly rather than frigid temperatures and only modest snowfall in town. Both spring and fall feature mild, pleasant temperatures ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities.
