What We’re Reading: Best Stadium Food, See Paris from Your Couch, and More

This week we’re reading … a blog about reading. Plus a roundup of scrumptious stadium foods, details on a famous villa for sale in Tuscany, and a most hilarious (possibly the most hilarious) travel-blogging master class.

It’s Friday, and the weekend is upon us. So put away your work and peruse the latest and greatest travel stories on the Interwebs (that’s what the TSA is calling the net these days).

Game on, Gourmand

One way to upgrade your Bruce Springsteen concert experience or courtside date with Linsanity: How about some Hoegaarden-braised bratwurst with Riesling-cooked weinkraut on a fresh potato bun? Or a lightly toasted Maine lobster roll? At one famous venue, stadium food has evolved considerably since the days of rubbery hot dogs and nachos topped with neon-yellow Gak. Feast your eyes on the newest gourmet sandwich offerings—straight from the kitchens of New York restaurateurs—available at Madison Square garden, courtesy of Travel + Leisure’s blog, Carry On.

Head of the Class

Want to be a travel blogger? Mike Snowden, humorist, explorer, and author of Fevered Mutterings, is offering a series of travel-blogging masterclass courses this year. On the docket: “Breaking the Ice at Blog Conferences with Interpretive Dance and Macrame,” “Lower Your Bounce Rate by Removing Ways to Escape: Blogging Lessons from a Prison Guard,” and “Sidestep Freelance Deadlines by Feigning Madness (practical session available).” Interested? Inspect the rest of the sardonic schedule on Snowden’s blog, and we’ll see you in class.

For Sale: House Under the Tuscan Sun

What’s the price of a Tuscan travel fantasy? A cool 9.5 million euros. Bramasole, the Italian villa featured in the movie Under the Tuscan Sun, is on the market, reports USA Today. The gorgeous nine-bedroom farmhouse, which Diane Lane buys after going through a messy divorce in the 2003 film, was built in the 16th century and features a grove of olive trees, a private lake, and a pool. Handsome Italian stranger not included.

How to Visit Paris for Free

Has spring sprung yet? Either way, it won’t be long before Parisian gardens are in bloom and the city is, arguably, at its best. But if a spring jaunt to Paris isn’t on your calendar, head to the local library and pick one of these books about the City of Light. Fathom’s comprehensive list features everything from non-fiction tomes to literary classics like The Sun Also Rises. For a more authentic experience, pick up a fresh-baked baguette to much while reading about the French capital.
