Huge Off-Season Savings in the Tropics

Beach freaks, rejoice! We’ve noticed a slew of deals rolling into our inboxes lately, many for the Caribbean, Bermuda, Mexico, and other tropical locales. The reason? June marks the beginning of hurricane season, and resorts are itching to fill rooms (and beaches) during this relatively quiet time. Hurricane-season travel is not without its risks (and we always recommend buying travel insurance), but this time of year, amazing deals can be had for a song. Here are some good ones we’ve seen recently:

CyberSummer Travel

June 21st marks Summer Solstice, and a number of top-shelf resorts in Florida, Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico are marking the date with a big summer-savings blowout called CyberSummer. Deals include rates from $99 per night at the Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort in Curacao; 50 percent of rack rates at the CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa in Anguilla; and one night free at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino. These deals are only available for 24 hours starting at 12:00 a.m. EST, so load up on iced coffee and prepare yourself for staying up late … it’s all for a good cause.

Summer FREEdom in the BVI

Take advantage of some incredible offers this summer and explore the British Virgin Islands, a normally pricey slice of the Caribbean, with the tourism department’s Summer FREEdom promo. Deals include a free night at the ritzy Rosewood Little Dix Bay; complimentary room upgrades at Long Bay Beach Club; three-for-two tank dives with Sail Caribbean Divers; and discounts on chartered yachts from a number of providers. Additionally, the beautiful Bitter End Yacht Club Is offering a slate of free summertime activities, including stand-up paddleboard lessons, kayak trips, and guided trail hikes through August 27.

Find Your Virgin Islands Nice

The U.S. Virgin Islands have also jumped into the deals game with a campaign they call Virgin Islands Nice. Travelers who book through their promo page can get their first night hotel stay free, plus $300 in on-island spending and $200 instant credit. Hotels on all three islands are participating: Some noteworthy selections include The Westin St. John, The Buccaneer Hotel on St. Croix, and Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort on St. Thomas. The latter resort is simultaneously running a “Teen No-Tech Challenge,” during which teen guests pledge to turn off their iPhones in exchange for actual “FaceTime” with family. Rates from $265 per night include family-friendly activities such as night kayaking and swimming with turtles at nearby Buck Island. Book through the Frenchman’s Reef website.

So Much More Summer in Bermuda

The Bermuda Tourism Board is offering $200 off three- and four-night summertime stays in Bermuda at a number of ritzy resorts, including the iconic Fairmont Southampton and the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.

Summer Early Booking Bonus in Turks and Caicos

Think you can’t afford the price tag of a perennial TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Winner for Top Hotel? Think again. This summer, Seven Stars Resort in Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos, is offering big savings on travel from August 1 through September 1, with up to 30 percent off oceanfront rooms. And early birds who are already looking to plan autumn travel will find 40 percent off rack rates across all room categories when they book by July 31st for travel dates from October 17 through December 18. The resort is decidedly upscale but still fun for families, with a complimentary kids’ club to keep the little ones occupied when you need to get away.
