Alaska Air's New Double-Miles Promotion Is a Winner

The days of systemwide airline mileage bonuses are mostly long gone. Today, airlines are more focused in their marketing efforts, limiting bonus miles to new routes and existing routes that are operating with an excess of empty seats.

This upcoming Alaska Airlines promotion isn’t quite a systemwide bonus, but it does cover around 50 routes to and from the airline’s west coast hubs and focus cities.

Between September 1, 2017, and February 28, 2018, Mileage Plan members can earn double miles on the following routes:

Deal or No Deal

This promotion has two things going for it. First, it awards bonus miles for flights on a significant number of routes, and not just a few low-demand routes. And second, the bonus is in effect for a full five months, not just the two or three months that are typical of such offers.

In all, this is one of the most compelling airline bonus offers we’ve seen in some time.

It’s worth adding that Alaska Air’s Mileage Plan program was just dubbed the industry’s best by U.S. News & World Report. Which means that those bonus miles are not just relatively easy to earn, they’re worth earning as well.
