Unbelievable Italy Trip

Author: neicie
Date of Trip: September 2010

I just came back from a trip to Italy. It was too wonderful for words to explain, but I will try. My friend and I booked our trip through “Globus tours”, available through any travel agent. It was a 12 day fast paced trip. If it was not fast paced, we would not have seen all that we did. Several older folks were able to keep up with the group, so don’t be afraid of that.

We arrived in Rome, stayed two days and saw all the beautiful sights around town. We had a tour director and a tour guide from each place we visited. We went to Florence, Venice, Assisi, Island of Capri, and several little stops in between as we traveled by a comfortable bus. We stayed about two nights in each town.

The scenery was breathtaking. With about 35-40 on board we became like one big family by the end of the trip. It was very hot and muggy at the end of September. I imagine it would be even hotter anytime sooner. I can’t begin to tell you the beauty of the churches, basilicas, statues, scenery, and art that we saw. It was almost surreal. The food was fabulous, and very healthy too. Not all that expensive however the euro is worth more than the American dollar. Almost everyone spoke English, which made communicating much easier.

I would absolutely recommend booking with a tour because the traffic and driving are nearly impossible to navigate. They drive “crazy”. You would be taking your life in your hands by doing so. Also, the information we learned from our guides was more than we could ever learn on our own. The tour groups are led to the beginning of the lines for certain tours re: (Vatican etc). The lines for independent travelers were miles long!!! Most of our meals were included and all the hotels were paid for. We stayed in four star hotels and they were all very nice and close to the attractions.

Always remember to bring your own wash cloths because they consider that as personal item, such as your own toothbrush is. Write me if you have any questions. Arriverdeci!
