To Rome by Sea

Author: carolyn r.
Date of Trip: September 2006

We cruised on Brilliance of the Seas at the end of September 2006 and it was a marvelous thing. There were five of us — me, my wife, the two boys and my mother. The services on board were excellent and we always ate in abundance. On board they don’t let you miss a thing!

We chose this cruise because we like Italy (Villefranche and Dubrovnik are equally beautiful). My wife likes Florence, Venice and Naples (the Amalfi Coast and Positano are two true jewels), but the city she loves in particular is Rome. She visited Rome some years ago and has remained in love with it.

We found the most prepared and punctual tour guide in all of Italy — Phillip with Rome Tours. He has shown us so many attractions, all well explained, and we are still talking about our time with him. We have been to the Capitol Hill, Venice Plaza, the Roman Forum, the Trajan Forum, the maps of the Roman Empire, the Colosseum, the Arc of Constantine, the Catacombs, the Circus Maximus, the Mouth of Truth, the Fountain of Trevi and the Spanish Steps. We also visited the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and the Basilica of St. Pietro.

We have also gone to eat in restaurants that were amazing with affordable prices. The “spaghetti amatriciana” and pizza were the best we have ever eaten.

See you very soon (I hope) Rome!
