New England in Spring is great!

Author: Ronda Woodall
Date of Trip: April 2013

Starting in Mystic Conn. we journeyed along Route 1 and 1A all the way up the coast to Bar Harbor, Maine! Along the way we were treated to some awesomely nice people (who said New Englanders weren’t nice?!?!) and enjoyed wonderful jewelry shop in Stoneington, just north of Mystic; the mansion walk in Newport plus the BEST clam chowder of our whole trip; Martha’s Vineyard (loved Oak Bluff the most here); and Provincetown in Cape Cod (our hotel practically had the tide washing under it!)

Loved the 18 miles of New Hampshire coastline, felt like normal people go there; and adored Maine! We found great, cheaper seafood in Maine, along with tons of junk/antique shops to whet one’s browsing appetite! Congdens Doughnuts in Wells Beach has amazing doughnuts and wish we’d found them sooner! Boothbay Harbor was our favorite place along with the Tugboat Restaurant there – their lemon cake with marscapone filling is to die for folks! Woodstock, Vermont was a nice change of pace – the surrounding farms there were wonderful to see.

My first trip back East and thoroughly enjoyed it!
