Dream Trip

Author: Lynette Romine
Date of Trip: July 2015

I started by going to Carhenge in Nebraska. It was site to be seen. There are no words for how unique this roadside attraction is, it is fun, it is a great place to walk and enjoy the site!

Second leg of the trip, was going up to the Caves in South Dakota. If you stop in South Dakota, go see the beautiful caves before seeing Mount Rushmore. You won’t regret it!!! FYI, bring a jacket…

Of course, we stopped by Mount Rushmore. Look for your state’s flag. It is fun!! Don’t forget to get your memorial penny, those are everywhere!!! 😀 😀 😀

On to Wyoming, first stop, Devil’s Tower. This is right out of the Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind. Go to the foot of this great big Rock (that looks like Asparagus stuck together!) Don’t climb with loose items, they will fall and you won’t be able to get to them! LOL!

Then on to Hot Springs in Thermopolis. Drive around to find a herd of buffalo. They are around. Then stop by the hot springs and swim in the warm fantastic water.

On our way to the Grand Teton from Thermopolis through Riverton and Dubois, Wyoming. This is a site to be seen. While driving, we witness a herd of horse on top of a hilltop just running free. This is one sight that I never want to forget! BEAUTIFUL!

Spent several days in the Grand Teton and Yellowstone area. This is what America the Beautiful meant by majestic mountains. It is peaceful, beautiful, awe inspiring. The water is clear, I never found a piece of trash out on the ground. I just wished that the drivers were a bit more empathetic to those who are trying to absorb the beauty… not to mention wanting to view all that wildlife…
I had to mention the wildlife. Yes, it is fantastic, but very dangerous. Be careful. Listen to the Park Rangers and their words to keep you and yours safe.

We had to say goodbye to Wyoming on to Colorado. Manitou Springs Dwellings. Met my very first Timber Wolf. Walked through the mountain dwellings that have been around for centuries. Beautiful scenery of the foothills surroundings.

Then to the top of Pike’s Peak. Be careful not to burn our your breaks. Sing songs together to keep your mind off the major drops that are right outside of your car. Be warned there is snow up there all year long 😀 😀 😀

On to Garden of the Gods. Great hiking with great views. View the balance rock. Get your picture there! You won’t regret it! 😀 😀

Then back home to flat land Kansas. I can’t wait until my next adventure!! 😀 😀 😀 😀
