Disappointed in Las Vegas

Author: chrisx3mom

Plane & Hotel

Took my 25-year old daughter to Las Vegas. First trip for both of us. Flew Continental non-stop out of Newark, NJ and had a great flight. Food was normal, not good, not bad. Beverages aplenty.

My daughter chose Caesar’s Palace for our stay. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. When we checked in, I was told that for $100 more a night, they would put us in the new tower (I had booked a deluxe room). I told them no thank you. Then they offered to put us in a newer remodeled section for $50 more a night. I had already paid $800 for 5 nights so again, I refused. When we got to our room (closet?) it was terrible. View was of a blank wall. Room was very small with two regular double beds. We were constantly walking into things.

Shows

Went to “Tony & Tina’s Wedding” in the Rio. Great audience participation. Lots of fun. Dinner included (passable). Also saw “Legends in Concert” at the Imperial Palace. Great show, but couldn’t get a waitress to order drinks. Also, they change the performers so you never know who you will see on a given night. But still worth the price.

Hotels/Casinos

Since it was our first trip, we did a lot of walking into as many hotels as we could. We were really disappointed. Almost every attraction had a charge. And some, like the Gondola ride, was very expensive. Here are some thoughts about the few other attractions we took in.

Freemont Street – Great laser light show and the seafood buffet at the 3 Queens was fantastic.

Grand Canyon – Since I don’t expect to go back that way, we took the bus ride to the Grand Canyon. Absolutely beautiful. However, it is a very LONG ride. If you’re not afraid of helicopters like I am, take one. That would be the best way to go to the Canyon.

Final Thoughts

I’ll stick with Atlantic City for gambling. Closer. No other reason to go back to Vegas!!
