Cruise on Nautica Cruise Ship of Asia 30 Jan 2011

Author: Robert L.
Date of Trip: January 2011

PROS. The absolute best foot we ever ate. We had a large steak and lobster every night at no additional charge. I read on the Internet that Oceania spends the most for food than any cruise ship line. I had a diet breakfast every morning consisting of a large bowl of blue berries, red raspberries, black berries and strawberries topped with whipped cream. Even the pizza was the best we both ever had. The make pizza with 8 different cheeses. My wife went crazy for their home made ice creams, fruit sorbets and my wife constantly ordered milk shakes and sundaes all the time at no additional charge. Our room was large and great. Oceania cruises provided complimentary shuttle buses into town at all ports even including Bangkok except for Malaysia and Brunei. The service on the ship was the best we have ever had.

CONS. The absolute worst entertainment we ever seen. Shows consisted of violin concerts, operas, comedians telling more than 30 year old jokes we all heard before, a fiddler etc. There was no rock and roll, no soul bands, no stage shows. At night in the atrium and a 4 P,M. Tea Time people sat around listening to boring violin playing. I remember listing to the most of the music on the cruise when I was a child. I hated the music when I was a child and still hate the absolutely boring music. Most of the passengers were 75 years plus. My wife and I were the youngest people on the cruise. I am 61 years old and my wife is almost fifty. My parents would have absolutely loved the entertainment on the cruise. For entertainment they had many lectures such as a boring lecture on the Philippines. The shower in our stateroom surged to burning hot without any warning and you had to quickly jump out of the shower or get burnt. We did not user the Internet on the cruise ships since it was $1.55 per minute and everyone including employees stated the Internet on the cruise ship was extremely slow. When we went to Cambodia I used the Internet for 3 hours, had 2 beers and my wife had a 7 up and it cost only $3.00 total. I took a girl friend once to see a opera and I fell to sleep right away since it was so boring. I do not like watching the fat lady sing. The shore excursions had exorbitant sky high prices and the shore excursions were 2 to 3 times more expensive than Royal Caribbean. The first two (2) days of the cruise we stayed mostly in the cabin bored and watched TV. The first day of the cruise I told my wife I was going down stairs to find the showroom. It turned out the show room was the very small area where we checked in. I was told that most cruises have high energy entertainment. The Legend of the Seas cruise Ship was party central – we never got bored on that cruise. The show room was about 1/6 the size of the 800 seat showroom on Legend of the Seas cruise ship. I rate the extremely poor excuse for entertainment as a big thumbs down! I guess I am not a sophisticated man – I love rock and roll and love high energy stage shows.
