Silver City, New Mexico, is one of America's coolest small towns. Its incredible history is one reason: The nearby Gila Cliff Dwellings were built by Puebloans in the 1200s, and you can visit them today. It's also the site of an old Apache campsite and was occupied by the Spaniards in the 17th century.
Silver mining is what really made the area take off, and these days it's a hip little town with hot-spot eateries, trendy cafes, a cool vibe, and an amazing arts scene, best known for its clay pottery, which has roots going back hundreds of years. Even the local courthouse is made out of clay!
