Tips on Rabat Warnings or Dangers – Stay Safe!

Rabat Warnings and Dangers

Rabat is the capital city of exotic Morocco featuring the famous Kasbah of the Udayas and the French-inspired Berber-era royal fort known for its French-inspired gardens. Visiting Rabat is dangerous if you attempt to strike up friendships with strangers.

Keep to Yourself when Roaming the Streets of Rabat

In Rabat, do not act overly friendly toward strangers. Proceed with extreme caution if a stranger approaches you. Do not trust a person who offers to take you on a tour, even if the person looks harmless. Strangers may try to lure you into buying goods from their friends who operate outdoor stalls. You may feel forced to buy items even if you are not interested in purchasing the products.

The Kasbah is a Dangerous Tourist Trap

Besides, there really is not much to see inside the Kasbah. Pay special attention if you visit the entrance known as Bab Oudaia. Some of the local women selling Henna flowers are untrustworthy because they try to steal money from you. The same warning applies to the overly friendly guides. Also, do not mistake the locals for Chellah castle guides. These men are not castle guides. They are only interested in your money. Also, it is easy to get lost when inside the Kasbah. If you plan on visiting this historic site, visit with a friend.

Do Not Drink Tap Water

If you drink tap water in Rabat, you may experience problems with your digestion. Drink bottled water with unbroken seals. Do not drink any beverages containing ice cubes because the cubes are made from tap water. Do not drink orange juice blended with water.
