Valley of the Butterflies
During your stay, set aside a few hours to visit Petaloudes Park. There, you can walk along idyllic natural trails and take refuge from the sun. In the warmer months, the park is home to several species of butterflies and moths. If you want to get a glimpse of Greece’s natural beauty, Petaloudes Park is hard to beat.
Castles and Ancient Streets
Rhodes is an ancient city. Traces of Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman rule can be found throughout the island. While in Rhodes, checkout the Monolithos Castle, Ancient Kamiros, Ialysos, Moni Filerimou, Palace of the Grand Master, and Ippoton (The Knight’s Street), just to name a few. You can also visit the site on which The Colossus once stood. While no longer intact, you can stand next to the columns and imagine what the gigantic statue must have looked like. The Colossus was one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, and is well worth a visit.
Old Town is a popular hangout in Rhodes. Divided into three neighborhoods and surrounded by stone walls, Old Town will make you feel like you stepped back in time. While Old Town’s age shouldn’t be ignored, the entertainment options here are far from ancient. Old Town is home to some of the finest bars, restaurants, and cafes on the island.
