Shannon Things to Do- Attractions & Must See

Shannon Things to Do

Shannon offers many things to do, from exploring a medieval castle to enjoying majestic landscapes.

Bunratty Castle and Folk-Park

A living museum of medieval life, Bunratty Castle features dungeons and a great hall where visitors can enjoy a medieval-style banquet and entertainment. Take a guided or self-paced tour of Bunratty Castle’s many rooms and be sure to make banquet reservations.

Next door is Bunratty Park, a village reminiscent of the 19th century, complete with thatched cottages and farmhouses. On the main street, you’ll find a post office, a school, a print shop, a grocery store, and a hotel, all open for shopping and browsing. Fresh scones are baked in the cottages and artisans display their crafts. Visit Durty Nellie’s Pub for lunch.

Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher (Cliffs of the Ruin) rise between 120 m (394 ft) and 214 m (702 ft) and stretch for 8 km above the Atlantic Ocean. Moher Tower, located at Hag’s Head, is a square stone ruin. The best time to go is at sunset.

Inisheer

Take a ferry to Inisheer, one of the Aran Islands. Rent a bike or tour the island in a horse-drawn cart. You can also get around by taxi. Enjoy beautiful scenery and explore the site of a shipwreck.

Other Things to Do

Near Lecarrow Harbor, visit Yew Tree Restaurant for great food and excellent service.

With narrow streets and quaint shops in every nook, Ennis is, perhaps, the most endearing town in Ireland.

Before you depart, sip Irish coffee at the Shannon Airport bar. The sweet drink may have been invented there.
