Nantes Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Nantes Transportation

Home of the medieval-era Château des Ducs de Bretagne castle, this small French city is simple to get around in. Here are some handy train, bus, and airport tips to use when traveling with Nantes transportation.

Travel by Airplane

Ryanair airlines have flights to and from Nantes through the following four locations at a low cost: Shannon, Nottingham, London, and Frankfurt. Otherwise, you have many other companies flying from the Nantes Atlantique airport, among which Air France and British Airways. Nantes Airport is located quite near from the city center, only 30 minutes by bus. You can take a shuttle bus from the railway station or la Place du Commerce. It is run by Tan, the local bus company.

Tram and High-Speed Train Travel

Take the Trams around Nantes, they are quick, cheap and easy to use. You can use some of them for Park and Ride. You can also buy tickets for multi rides from the ticket machines at the Tram stops but don’t forget to validate it when you board the tram. Even though they don’t check the tickets every time, purchasing a ticket is highly recommended. The Tramway of Nantes is the way of transport that visitors love to experience. It can drive you just about anywhere, you have a nice view of the city, and it’s fun too!

High-speed train TGV is surely the fastest way to get to Nantes (that is except if you drive 250 miles an hour). From Paris, the travel takes two hours and ten minutes, and prices change very widely according to your age, the time and day you are traveling and how long ago you make the reservation. Prices for a non-French resident are usually between 50 and 100 Euros for a one-way travel.
