Miami Things to Do
Those visiting Miami will find that they have plenty of opportunities to have some fun in and out of the sun. Use our tips to help you plan your trip.
Almost everyone who goes to Miami plans to spend a lot of their time at the beach. South Beach is one of America’s most famous beaches, so it’s definitely worth checking out. However, it can also be very crowded, so try to get their early if you want a good parking spot. Miami Beach is another good choice, especially for those with families. You’ll be able to find some seashells to take home with you. Little kiosks around the beach sell water and snacks, but they come with a premium price. Take your own in a cooler if you want to save some money.
Seeing the Animals
Miami offers opportunities to see animals in an entirely new light. Zoo Miami is the largest zoo in Florida and one of the best in the United States. With over 2,000 animals, you’ll want to spend the entire day to see everything. If you’d like a different experience, check out the Monkey Jungle where “humans are caged and the monkeys run wild.” The whole family will have fun watching the monkeys swing and play. View sea life at the Miami Seaquarium. They have plenty of exhibits and animal shows to keep your interest, but you can also arrange to have an encounter with the animals as well. If you’ve always dreamed about swimming with the dolphins, this is your chance.
The Everglades National Park is a must-see destination for those who want a good look at Miami’s natural environment. You can walk around on your own or join a tour for some insider information. Plan to spend the day here, and watch out for the alligators. At the Fairchild Tropical Garden, you’ll get to see unique plants and wildlife. Check out the butterfly house to see the beautiful butterflies from around the world.
Museums and Culture
The Vizcaya Mansion was the winter home of James Deering and offers a glimpse into a past glamourous lifestyle. It’s fun to tour the home and the grounds, but you aren’t allowed to take pictures of the interior. Little Havana is the center of Cuban culture in Miami. It’s a good place to see Cuban art and eat some delicious food. Fridays usually feature special cultural activities where you can get in on the action. The Miami Art Museum is a good destination for those who enjoy art and want to take a break from the sun. Check out their schedule for special events.
