LRT – Light Rail Transit, Kuala Lumpur – Transportation

Transportation in Kuala Lumpur: LRT – Light Rail Transit

When you visit Malaysia as a tourist you may want to know your transportation options. Here are a few tips and advice for taking the Light Rail Transit (or LRT for short) in Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur Public Transportation System

The Kuala Lumpur Public Transportation system operates like a regular train station you may have experienced around the world. While the trains may not be as big as the average, the general wait time is between 45 minutes and 1 hour for trains. It is important to get used to the rush hour times and your way around so you do not get lost.

Rapid LRT – Kelana Jaya Line

The Kelana Jaya Line may be the most important line for you as a tourist to learn. This line can typically get you to the necessary places that you need such as entertainment, grocery shopping, clothes shopping, and back home.

To purchase a ticket, feel free to ask any of the workers on the specific amount that you will need to get to your next destination. Essentially a fee from KL Sentral to KLCC is RM 1.60 per person. You will receive tokens instead of an actual ticket (so you do not want to lose them).

The Main Mass Commuter Line

This line is most known for having cheap fares and the “cousin” to the light Railway Transit. The Main Mass Commuter Line has 3 major lines compared to the LRT, which has a variety of lines. If you utilize both during your trip, you could essentially get everywhere in Kuala Lumpur without your own car or taxi service.
