Kusadasi Transportation – Taxi, Train, Bus & Airport Tips

Kusadasi Transportation

Whether you’re going to be in Kusadasi for one day when your cruise ship stops, or you’re staying there for several days, there are several transportation and tour options.

The Airport

The nearest airport to Kusadasi is the Izmir airport, which is 80Km away, and takes about an hour in a car. You can take a bus from Kusadasi otogar( bus station) to Izmir otogar, and then you pick up a connecting bus to the airport. The usual taxi charges to the airport are 90YTL but you can negotiate, especially in the off-season. You arrange a taxi driver by asking the day before to come to your hotel – they’ll even show up at 4 in the morning.

Day Tours

If you’re arriving on a cruise ship, and you want a day tour of the local site, like Ephesus the Terrace Houses, or the Temple of Artemis there are several good local tour companies. Often, the cruise ships will charge several hundred Euro for large group tours. However, if you plan it ahead of time, you can do you own private tour for around 80 EUR per person. Some well-known tour companies are Ekol Travel International or Sun Wind Travel Agency.

Ferry to Other Mediterranean Islands

There is a daily ferry to and from the Greek island of Samos. This is perfect for people who want to explore the island for the day. The ship leaves first thing in the morning, and it returns late in the evening. You are required to have your passport and any other necessary paperwork. Daytrippers are required to leave their passports at the harbor immigration office, and they get them back when they leave the island.
