Along the tip of Portugal and the westernmost region in Europe is Cabo da Roca. It is a cape almost 500 feet from the Mediterranean Sea where you can enjoy a delightful view of Serra de Sintra as well as the coast.

Driving to Cabo da Roca

Not far from the city of Sintra, Cabo da Roca can be managed by car. If you are visiting the nearby regions and have your own vehicle, you’ll be able to make your way to the cape by taking N247 to Colares from Sintra. Once there, you can just follow the signs after you reach N247-4. If you are driving from Cascais, take the road N9-1 to Azóia. Cabo da Roca is located directly inside of Sintra-Cascais Nature Park.

There are several places in Sintra and Cascais where you can rent a vehicle for your drive down to Cabo da Roca.

Taking the Bus to the Cape

Take the train to Sintra and then get on the 403 bus at the bus stop near the train station. The 403 bus rides between Sintra and Cascais throughout the day. This bus makes a stop in Cabo da Roca periodically. You should ask at the information desk to find out what bus goes into the cape. You can get a day pass for the bus if you want to visit other cities in that region. You could also go to Lisbon and Cascais after or before your trip to Cabo da Roca. It can take approximately 35 minutes to get to Cabo da Roca from Sintra and 25 minutes to get to it from Cascais. A train from Lisbon can easily get you to either city before you explore the cape.
