Buses to Pattaya, Pattaya – Transportation

Transportation in Pattaya: Buses to Pattaya

Getting to the popular beach town of Pattaya by bus from Bangkok is pretty simple, whether you book a seat in advance or not. You can catch an air conditioned travel bus either from the airport or two different bus terminals in Bangkok, and you’ll spend between one and two hours on the bus, depending on traffic.

Going from the Airport

If you travel to Thailand by air, you will probably land in Bangkok at the Suvarnabhumi Airport. After getting out of customs and picking up all your luggage, go down to Level 1 and look for Gates 7 or 8. You should see a ticket counter where you can pay for bus tickets. Each ticket to Pattaya costs less than $10USD (usually between 90 and 150 baht). Buses leave every hour starting at 7:00 AM through 10:00 PM. You are allowed to check one bag weighing no more than 44 pounds (20 kg), or pay extra. Cheaper buses will drop you off in the center of Pattaya where you must find a taxi to get to your hotel. Bell is a bus company well known by tourists to be reliable, and it will take tourists directly to well established hotels in Pattaya, but the fare is more expensive.

Going from a Terminal in Bangkok

You can also catch a bus directly to the center of Pattaya at two main terminals in Bangkok. You can catch a travel bus at Ekkamai Eastern Bus Terminal or at Mor Chit Northern Bus Terminal. There are two types of buses you can catch. The cheaper one takes a longer route through rural towns, and the more expensive bus, called Express, takes you directly to Pattaya via the freeway. The Express takes about an hour to get to Pattaya, depending on traffic, and the other, though cheaper, takes longer.
