No matter what you have planned for your Asheville adventure, these luggage options are ideal for a short or long-term stay.

Clothing

Asheville is a very relaxed town so plan on dressing comfortably, especially for all of the great and interesting stores to explore downtown. The on reason to dress up is if you’re planning on dining at one of the finer restaurants downtown, and even then is usually not required.

Whenever you travel to Asheville, count on it being 15 degrees cooler there than in, say, Charlotte. In the summer, that’s a good thing. During the other three seasons, you may have to add one more layer of clothing. Bring season-appropriate clothing. In spring and fall you’ll need a light jacket or sweater. During summer, you can dress lightly, but be ready for possible cool nights – you are up in the mountains. In winter, bring a medium weight jacket or sweater – a few days get extremely cold.

Make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes and/or hiking boots, depending on the nature of your visit. If you plan on going out and enjoying the nightlife, bring your party shoes.

For walking around Asheville, bring a small backpack to stash your things in.

If the gardens on the Biltmore Estate is on your Asheville itinerary, bring a 35mm camera and lots and lots of film.

Wear sunglasses, especially in winter and summer. You may need a raincoat or an umbrella from fall to spring.
