Things to Do in Nashville, Indiana

Nashville Things to Do

A small town located between two large state parks in the south central region of Indiana, Nashville is filled with quaint shops, covered bridges and several wineries.  Stay for a weekend or a week, there is so much to do while in Nashville.

Go Outside

Brown County State Park is 25 square miles of health, harmony and happiness.  Hiking, fishing, horseback riding, sightseeing, a nature center and picnicking  are just a few of the things you can do. There are two covered bridges near Nashville.  The Ramp Creek Covered Bridge is at the north entrance of the park, is one of only 4 double tunnel bridges and was built in 1838.  The Bean Blossom Covered Bridge is just 4 miles north of Nashville spanning the Bean Blossom Creek. It has the distinction of being the most photographed covered bridge in Indiana.  Yellowwood State Forest has three lakes with row boat rentals and great fishing.

Eat! Drink! Shop!

It’s not the journey, it’s the destination. Nashville is a filled with art galleries, antique shops, three tasting rooms, a brewery, a distillery, and one of a kind gift shops with names like Bearwallow Gifts, Clay Purl and Sweetea’s Tea Shoppe.  These are not your Mama’s strip mall big box stores. At the Gatesville Country Store, browse the shelves for authentic  Americana antique treasures, have a piece of pie on the porch, pan for gold in the stream behind the store and maybe someone will start picking a banjo joined by a harpist and a fiddler.  Nashville is the home base to several music festivals including the Bill Monroe Bluegrass Festival in its 50th year.

The Smithsonian Magazine named Nashville IN, one of the top 20 best small towns in America. It’s very easy to see why.
